Geochemistry lab

Geochemistry lab includes analytical instruments used to determine the chemical composition (including trace-elements and isotopes) of the water and rock-mineral samples.

Main instruments are:

  • Dionex ion-chromatograph ICS-1000 for cations (Li+, Na+, K+, NH4+, Mg+2, Ca+2 ) and anions (F-, Cl-, Br-, NO2-, NO3-, SO4-2, PO4-3) in water samples. Alkalinity (HCO3) can be measured with SiAnalytics Titroline 6000
  • Scanning spectrophotometry using Thermo Nicolet Evolution 300 and Dynamica Haolo RB-10
  • Agilent MP-AS 4100 Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy for major and trace elements in water and dissolved rock samples
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) Agilent 8800x integrated with Cetac LSX213 laser-ablation system for major and trace elements including Li and S-isotopes and U-Pb dating
