Studies in Geology

Geology Department participates in teaching of MSc programme in Environmental Governance and Adaptation to Climate Change jointly hold between Tartu University and Estonian University of Life Sciences. Read more about this programme at the ULF program site.

PhD in Geology, and PhD in Environmental Technology programmes at Tartu University last for 4 years and requires 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) to be earned for completion. Out of these, 30 ECTS are given for doctoral studies and 210 ECTS for research work. The PhD candidate will perform research under a supervisor or supervisors. The results of the research are presented as a doctoral thesis, which will be defended in an open dissertation in the council of the Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences.
